| Shri Radhe Maa - Vachan Amrut |
By Sanjeev Gupta

Kajal Anand’s story: We worried incessantly as our daughter’s wedding day approached. We did not know where the money for the catering, the hall and the bridal finery would come from. My business had been suffering for some time. We had exhausted all our savings and had also incurred debts. The wedding invitations had been dispatched. Needless to say, my daughter’s happiness, our reputation in society and our standing in our extended family were all at stake. It was with a heavy heart that I went to Devi Maa’s bhavan with my daughter for darshan a few days before the wedding.

As we were ushered to Devi Maa’s gufaa, she beckoned my daughter closer and handed her a gift – Devi Maa’s beautiful chola. It was a dress fit for a bride complete in every way except for the chuda-bangles that Punjabi brides wear on both wrists on the big day.
No one had told her and yet Devi Maa knew!

We considered Devi Maa’s gift as a positive omen. It was reassuring. However, as the big day approached, the situation deteriorated even further. People who owed us money backed out. Those we approached for a loan refused because they knew we did not possess the means to repay them. On wedding day, as guests began walking in, the caterer threatened to walk out unless we paid an advance. He would not buy supplies unless we did so.

We prayed to Devi Maa.
Her response was instantaneous. A person who had refused us money earlier called to tell us we could collect the money. Relatives voluntarily chipped in. By the end of the day, we had a fantastic wedding. All through the event, I fell Devi Maa’s wonderful positivity guiding us through.

To this day, there are people who refuse to believe that we managed to give the wedding we did to our daughter with hardly any money in our pockets. After the wedding, our family with our now wedded daughter queued up for Devi Maa’s darshan. As we waited for our turn, my daughter asked me a question. How come Devi Maa had gifted her all her bridal finery except for chuda-bangles?

That day, as we stepped into Devi Maa’s gufaa, she looked at my daughter and smiled. My daughter approached Devi Maa, her hands folded. As my daughter came closer, Devi Maa took off the chuda-bangles on her hands and handed them to my daughter.

There is nothing Devi Maa does not know!
